Instructions for Authors

Types of papers / Review

Cancer Causes & Control: publishes the following article types:

• Original Articles,

• Reviews,

• Short Communication,

• Commentariy,

• Letter to the Editor and

• Book Reviews

Original articles should report on original primary research

Criteria:

• Up to 5,000 words (excludes abstract and references)

• Up to 6 tables and figures

• References (No limit to # of references)

Reviews are comprehensive, authoritative descriptions of any subject within the scope of the journal. These should draw together a body of literature to reach one or more major conclusions.

Systematic reviews are expected to use and refer to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) where possible. The search strategy and the criteria for the selection of articles should be clearly outlined.

Criteria:

• Up to 5,000 words (excludes abstract and references)

• References (No limit to # of references)

Short Communications are suitable for the presentation of research that extends previously published research, including the reporting of additional controls and confirmatory results in other settings, as well as negative results. Authors must clearly acknowledge any work upon which they are building, both published and unpublished.

Criteria:

• Abstract (up to 200 words)

• Up to 3,000 words

• 1 table

• 1 figure

• Up to 30 references allowed

Commentaries are short, narrowly focused articles of contemporary interest

Criteria:

• Up to 10 references allowed

A Letter to the Editor is a substantial re-analysis of a previously published article in Cancer Causes & Control

Criteria:

• a maximum of 1000 words

• a maximum of 5 references.

Book review are short articles that are written by specialists and read by the general community. The aim of a Book review is to give a brief summary of the book's strengths and weaknesses and to evaluate the book's overall usefulness to the audience it is intended for.

Criteria:

• Should be around 400 words long

Additional information

Authors must suggest a minimum of 3 Reviewers when submitting their manuscripts for any article type.

Language

We appreciate any efforts that you make to ensure that the language is corrected before submission. This will greatly improve the legibility of your paper if English is not your first language.
