    Author Guidelines

    COVID-19 Initiative

JLB is offering expedited review for manuscripts submitted in response to a call for papers on “COVID–19 and Related Topics” (for details click here). Upon submission, all articles will be evaluated by an editorial Task Force for this topic area. Articles deemed suitable will be peer reviewed, with final decisions rendered within 21–23 days.

All accepted manuscripts will be published online immediately with articles made free to read (base publication fees still apply). The manuscripts will be reassembled into a JLB virtual collection and also featured in Wiley’s COVID–19 online publication list. Manuscripts for this initiative may be submitted until December 31, 2021.

    Types of submissions include:

Concise Reports: This new short-article format is specifically designed for reporting breaking observations, making it an attractive choice for the COVID 19 initiative. Articles should be between 1000-1800 words, with up to 2 figures/tables. Extended methods are required as supplementary material. A Graphical Abstract is optional.

    OR

Any of JLB’s existing article formats: Brief Conclusive Report, Full-Length Articles, Full-Length or Mini Reviews, Technical Advances, or Hybrid Reviews. For more information, see below.

All submissions to this initiative must include a cover letter and address the following questions:

Why is this manuscript suitable for publication in the COVID-19 and Related Topics Collection?

How will your study/manuscript inspire researchers or clinicians, and how will it advance our understanding of disease or strategies to treat or prevent infections?

    Instructions for Authors

The Journal of Leukocyte Biology asks authors to read this section thoroughly and completely. After reading the following information, select Home to begin the online submission process. If you have questions about submitting your manuscript, please e-mail jlbstaff@leukocytebiology.org or call the Managing Editor (301–514–8667).

    Scope

The Journal of Leukocyte Biology (JLB) publishes original experimental and clinical research to provide new insight into the function of leukocytes and/or stromal cells at the molecular, structural, cellular and systemic level. JLB’s scope includes all leukocytes (granulocytes, monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells, T, B, and innate lymphoid or NK/NKT cells) and/or leukocyte products. JLB also considers associated stromal (endothelial, epithelial) cells studied in vitro and in the context of innate and adaptive immunity, as well as development, homeostasis, host-pathogen interactions, immunotherapy, and immunopathogenesis (in both vertebrate models and/or human studies). Pathologies of interest include immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, allergy, cancer, trauma, infections, inflammatory, and iatrogenic diseases. JLB also publishes basic, translational, and clinical reviews as well as commentaries on current journal content.

Please note: All submitted articles must be complete studies. JLB does not accept works in progress or reports of new techniques without clear biological or mechanistic insight. On occasion, JLB may publish methodological advances as Technical Advances, without application of this method, if it has significant impact on and interest to the field.
