INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Journal Scope

 The Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (JIMB) is a publication of the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology that publishes papers in all aspects of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology. These include:

Biocatalysis 

Environmental Microbiology

Fermentation, Cell Culture & Bioengineering        

Metabolic Engineering & Synthetic Biology          

Natural Products      

Applied Genomics & Systems Biotechnology        

Bioenergy, Biofuels & Biochemicals          

Biotechnology Methods & Techniques       

Food Biotechnology & Probiotics

Genetics & Molecular Biology of Industrial Organisms     

Submission Process

JIMB considers all manuscripts on the condition that:

the manuscript is your own original work and does not duplicate any other previously published work, including your own work.

the manuscript has been submitted only to JIMB. It should not be under consideration or peer review or accepted for publication or published elsewhere.

the manuscript contains nothing that is abusive, defamatory, libelous, obscene, fraudulent, or illegal.

All aspects of the manuscript submission and review process are handled via the journal's online submission system, Editorial Manager. To submit to the journal go to https://www.editorialmanager.com/simb-jimb/. New authors must create an account prior to manuscript submission. Please direct any submission-related questions to the editorial office at jimb.editorialoffice@jjeditorial.com.

To ensure a quick review process for your manuscript, please read all instructions carefully before submitting. Manuscripts that do not follow submission guidelines may be returned to the authors for correction before further review.

The format of initial submissions is flexible. At this stage, authors are welcomed to upload a single PDF file containing the full text of the manuscript along with the display items (e.g. tables, figures). The authors can decide on the arrangement of sections of the paper, the reference style, and other formatting issues. To facilitate the review process, JIMB encourages authors to submit a line-numbered version of their manuscript and pages should be numbered as well. At the revision stage, authors may be asked to provide files that conform to journal formatting requirements. Please see the Mini Style Checklist for more information.

All manuscript submissions must include a cover letter, which briefly (3-4 sentences) explains the following:

How is the submitted work related to the scope of JIMB, and why should it be published in this journal?

What are the aims of the study, and what is its significance in relation to previously published work?

How is the submitted work and its findings novel and original?

Nominated Reviewers

Potential reviewers nominated by the authors should have no close affiliation with the author and must provide an objective review of the manuscript. Professional e-mail addresses must be provided, if available, rather than private e-mail addresses. The Editors retain the right to use their discretion to select reviewers they deem appropriate, which may or may not include those nominated by authors.
