Instructions for Author

The Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to International Journal of Stem Cells are initially evaluated by our editorial team based on the interest and importance of the subject and content, the use of proper scientific methods, the clarity of presentation (including the use of proper English) and the relevance to readers.

If an article is considered suitable for a peer review, it will be sent out for review by more than 2 experts in the field under the supervision of a member of editorial board.

The peer-review is carried out in single-blind processes.

Revised manuscripts may be subject to further peer review if necessary.

Copyright Transfer and Agreement Form

The corresponding author must read and sign the statements on Copyright Transfer and Agreement Form.

The Form is available online (www.ijstemcell.com) and should be faxed to the Editorial Office (Fax: 0504-467-2615).

Research and Publication Ethics

This statement aims to provide guidelines regarding the responsibilities of authors who aim to publish in International Journal of Stem Cells (Int J Stem Cells). This statement covers all types of publications including review article, original article, case report, letter to editor, etc. submitted to Int J Stem Cells.

Research Ethics

All manuscripts should be prepared in strict observation of the research and publication ethics guidelines recommended by the Council of Science Editors (http://www.councilscienceeditors.org/), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE, http://www.icmje.org/), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME, http://www.wame.org/), and the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors (KAMJE, https://www.kamje.or.kr/en/main_en).

Informed consent and Institutional Review Board approval

The studies on human and animals should indicate that procedures were in accordance with institutional guidelines (i.e. Institutional Review Board and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) and be mentioned in the text section of the manuscripts.

Originality and duplicate publication

All submitted manuscripts should be original and should not be in consideration by other scientific journals for publication. Any part of the accepted manuscript should not be duplicated in any other scientific journal without the permission of the Editorial Board although the figures and tables can be used freely if the original source is verified according to Creative Commons license. It is mandatory for all authors to resolve any copyright issues when citing a figure or data from other journals.

Procedures with regards to handling research and publication misconducts

When the editorial board has been informed of suspected cases of research and publication misconduct such as a redundant (duplicate) publication, plagiarism, fabricated data, changes in authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, ethical problems with the submitted manuscript, appropriation of authors ideas or data by reviewers, complaints against editors, and other issues, the resolving process will follow procedures provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (http://www.ijstemcell.com/file/Flowchart.pptx). The decision on the cases under consideration is made by the Editorial Board of Int J Stem Cells after a full investigation.

Authorship

Authorship acknowledges contributions and specifies the responsibilities of listed researchers.

An author should have made substantial contributions in at least one of the following: conception and/or design of the project; acquisition, analysis and/or interpretation of data; preparation and/or revision of the manuscript.

All authors must have approved the submitted version, original or revised.

Each author is personally accountable for the his or her own contributions in terms of accuracy and integrity.

Participants who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be mentioned in the Acknowledgements section.

The corresponding author is responsible for reaching an agreement by all authors regarding all authorship issues including the order of appearance and for maintaining communication with the Journal regarding all future issues arising from the publication.

Format of Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be original not previously published nor submitted to other journals and must be written in English.
