Instructions to Authors of Papers submitted to the Transactions on Consumer Electronics

The primary purpose for publishing the Transactions of the Consumer Electronics Society is to present to the membership and the engineering community in general, papers on new technology oriented to Consumer Electronics that are relevant, interesting, enlightening, and instructive in the field of mass-market Consumer Electronics. New technology does not simply mean new product development, although it does not preclude new product development where unusual technical achievement has been attained. The key factor is the emphasis placed on technology rather than product. All papers must clearly describe how it applies to Consumer Electronics.

Authors need to download and use the electronic template from IEEE template selector to prepare your paper. Carefully read the entire template before beginning preparation of your manuscript. All the information for the authors you can go to the IEEE Author Center. The abbreviations for the references can be found here. Papers can only be submitted via Scholar One. Once the paper is accepted, you should receive a receipt e-mail containing instructions to submit the mandatory IEEE Copyright Transfer & Export Control Form.

It is the policy of the IEEE to own the copyright to the technical contributions it publishes on behalf of the interests of the IEEE, its authors, and their employers, and to facilitate the appropriate reuse of this material by others. To comply with the United States Copyright Law, authors are required to sign a digital version of the IEEE Copyright Form upon acceptance of the manuscript. Authors will automatically be redirected to the eCF (electronic Copyright Form) after they have submitted the final files. The eCF makes signing a publishing agreement easy. The form will determine which agreement meets your needs and enable you to complete it on-screen. Potential authors should further note specific issues relating to this journal:

Authors must use the CORRECT template (as above), no other templates are acceptable.

Authors submit only PDF files. Papers must be submitted "Camera Ready". Authors cannot change their paper after submission so authors need to be very careful in the paper preparation particularly with the presentation of the reference list, page 1 footer, figures, tables, biographies, etc., all being conformant to the template style. Source material (Word, Latex, etc) will be requested for accepted papers

Commercial names, part numbers and trademark terms are not allowed in this journal.

Papers have a maximum of 5 authors. This rule in not valid anymore

Papers have a maximum of 8 printed pages from November 2019 issue (new papers submitted after November 2019). Extra charge (250$/page) will be applied for papers with more than 8 pages.

Copyright images can only be present in this journal where the authors of papers have received permission from the original copyright holder and clearly state permission has been obtained.

ONLY extended versions of papers previously published at one of the IEEE Consumer Technology Society events are allowed. These papers must significantly expanded versions of those papers with full academic rigour could be submitted at any time. However, authors should note that the new submitted paper still needs to conform to the scope of this journal and cite the original conference paper being elaborated

The editorial board recommends the no native speakers to use the IEEE support to improve the quality of the paper. English Editing Services for non-native speakers can be found here.

Authors are advised to refer to the IEEE Author Center for generic advice and to familairise themselves with "Registering for an ORCID" and the "IEEE Style Manual". The style manual includes the abbreviations.

NOTE: The articles in this journal are peer reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE PSPB Operations Manual (sections 8.2.1.C & 8.2.2.A). Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.

Corresponding authors from low-income countries are eligible for waived or reduced open access APCs.
