As we are transiting to a Gold Open Access model starting from January 1, 2024, a publication fee may be payable by some of the authors whose papers are accepted after October 1, 2023.
The publication fee of an accepted full article (Original Studies, Review Articles) will be $1950, and that of an accepted short article (Scientific Correspondence, Intriguing Images) and Perspectives will be $1000. Editorials and Letters to the Editor will be exempted from the fee.
Please note that this will be a transition process, in which two-thirds of the accepted papers will still be fully sponsored by the journal in 2024, and the sponsored proportion will gradually reduce year by year.
Priority of sponsorship will be given to articles contributed by authors from the developing countries (https://www.research4life.org/access/eligibility/) or with financial difficulty and invited authors, with the ultimate decision from the journal.
