Instructions for Authors
Authorship
Submission of a manuscript implies
– that the work described has not been published before;
– that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere;
– that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institution where the work has been carried out;
– that, if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication, the authors agree to automatically transfer the copyright to the publisher;
– that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright holder;
– that the manuscript should be written in English, German or French.
The Editorial Process
To speed up publication, and to ensure a unified layout throughout the journal, we require the use of LaTeX.
Format of Manuscripts
Class File: To simplify the transformation process between your documents and the final layout, we provide the LaTeX class file birkjour.cls ready for use with the newer LaTeX versions (LaTeX2e). It can be downloaded from the web page http://www.birkhauser-science.com/math/downloads as a zip file, birkjour.zip (see also link here below).
The class file is also available on request from the Editorial Office.
The first line in your document should be
\documentclass{birkjour}.
The class file mainly sets the fonts, margins and spacing. It is based on the standard AMSart class. Hence all of the usual LaTeX and AMS-LaTeX commands can be used inside your document.
A small sample file containing a short documentation and being useful as template is also provided in the zip file.
The authors are highly recommended not to modify the class file by introducing personal settings and/or definitions.
birkjour.zip (Download zip, 195 kB)
General Remarks
Research papers should have a maximal length of 10 printed pages.
Manuscripts submitted must be in final form. No extended material or linguistic corrections can be performed during the editorial procedure.
We request that neither overfull nor underfull boxes are contained in the text, that equations do not exceed the indicated text width, and that hyphenations as well as the page breaks have been checked.
Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.editorialmanager.com/adma/
We offer authors, editors and reviewers of AdM the option of using our fully web-enabled online manuscript submission and review system, the Editorial Manager.
The Editorial Manager offers authors the option to track the process of the review process in real time. All correspondence is done using the Editorial Manager.
The following file formats can be submitted:
For manuscripts:
LaTeX2E, Tex.
For figures:
TIF, GIF, JPG, EPS, PICT, PPT and PS.
For filing/compression:
Tar, ZIP.
Note: By using the Editorial Manager, it is not necessary to additionally submit the manuscript as printout version or on CD.
In case you encounter any difficulties while submitting your manuscript online, please get in touch with the responsible Editorial Assistant for AdM by clicking on the "Contact us”-button from the toolbar.
It is understood that the corresponding author is responsible for obtaining agreement of all co-authors of the manuscript submitted to AdM.
Keeping backup copies of the submitted files is the authors’ responsibility.
Please note that during the vacation period the processing of articles and emails may be slightly delayed.
